Buy a Reconditioned Engine instead of a Pre-tested Used Engine

replacement engine
We’ve been getting a lot of callers asking us if they should buy a rebuilt engine or a used engine for their vehicles. Without going into any lengthly details, I thought I’d try to help make this decision a little easier.

First off, I want to start out with the difference. A used engine is exactly what it sounds like, “USED”. Buying a used engine is a wise decision for someone that just wants to get their car back on the road again at an affordable price. A used engine can run for years and maybe longer then your vehicle even lasts, but on the other hand, you ARE buying a part that is used. When purchasing any kind of used car part whether it’s an engine or an axle, you always face the risk of having problems.

My suggestion when buying a certified engine is to make sure you buy a parts AND labor warranty. You may want to save a few bucks by settling for a parts only warranty which is pretty much standard no matter where you buy from, but what if you get the engine installed and it’s a dud? I tell you what happens…you’re going to be footing a double labor bill to have the bad one taken out and another put back in. You can try to get the shop you bought the transmission from to help out on the cost, but when it comes down to it, labor is not covered unless you add it to your warranty upon purchase.

Also, I want to mention that buying a used engine doesn’t mean it won’t be the best certified engine out there. You can find some pretty darn good deals on used parts, and you don’t have to settle for high miles…you can buy an engine with as little as 1,000 miles (people do wreck their cars.) All I suggest is clarifying your warranty upon purchase of a used engine.

rebuilt engine
As far as a rebuilt engine goes, well, it’s pretty much a brand new engine in a sense. I guess an easier word to explain reman’s is refurbished. They’ve refurbished the engine to be in “like new” condition. Obviously a “brand new” engine is better then any other kind of certified engine, but it is rare to get your hands on a engine that is actually brand new. Even though a rebuilt engine is probably going to costs you quite a bit more then a used engine, you can really find good deals on remans if you know where to call. We obviously suggest calling GotEngines.com at 1-877-268-0663 for an affordable quality rebuilt engine or used engine.

I guess when it comes to the decision of which is right for you, it’s really going to come down to how long you want to keep your vehicle. If you love your vehicle, and you think you’re going to keep it for years to come, a rebuilt engine may be the way to go. If you’re just looking to keep it running for another few years or you are going to sell it soon, I’d probably go for a used.

Either way, I’d call around first. At GotEngines.com there are several vehicles that we can actually get you a certified engine or rebuilt engine cheaper then a used engine one just because of our extensive partnership network.

I hope that helped. To sum it up…

Love Your Vehicle and Plan on Keeping it For Years To Come

But this is just my opinion. A used engine could out last a rebuilt engine, you just never can tell when it comes to auto parts. And, a lot has to do with the owner of the vehicle and how well they maintain their vehicle.

The Advantages to Car Shipping when Moving or Living Someplace Part Time

As a resident of Florida, auto transport is something I have developed a great deal of familiarity with . The “snow birds” are one such reason it is so high in demand. Those trying to escape the cold and snow at their other residence. Most will use a shipping company so they can have their cars with them for those months. For the elderly who spend their time here, this is a good alternative then trying to drive the whole way.

With the price of gas, this is a great way too save money, and the time it would take to drive. When I moved from California to Florida, I used a car shipping company, rather then take the days it would have taken me to drive. It is much quicker to have a vehicle shipped than to drive the distance yourself. If you are leasing, or have an older car, this can save you on mileage that ou could put to use another way.
There are many different web sites that may be accessed to check out a company’s reputation. You will want to look at claims against the company and in what manner they handled such claims. If there are items left in the car during transport, they will not generally be covered by the insurance. If you are moving don’t think you can cram your car full of everything previously in your living room and not expect to open yourself up to liability. I have been happy with the price and time on both occasions that I have needed to ship a vehicle.

When looking for a car transport company, you will want to get quotes and information from several to compare. As you start to compare, you will get a sense of what company you will want to use.

By having your vehicle shipped, you will not have to worry about construction or weather conditions. I have never lived in snowy conditions and many others have not lived in areas that experience frequent torrential downpours. By driving you may experience weather that you are not familiar driving in. As more people are on the roadways, it is getting more dangerous to travel by vehicle. Why risk the elements?

If you consider what the trip will do to your car, not to mention the stops you will have to make along the way, it is much cheaper to ship. By doing your homework, you will find that using a shipping company will cost you less money, not to mention the stress of today’s roads. Make sure the company you choose will be shipping your vehicle and not driving it. You will be much happier when all is done, that you chose to have your vehicle shipped rather than driving it.
