Mobility Scooter – Moving People Beyond Boundaries

For all those people who have suffered from any diseases or an accident and have become immobile as a result, the mobility scooter is a great answer. The three or four-wheeled gizmos look like big toys, but for all practical purposes, they are automated motorized vehicles that have the power to cover a lot of area and allows the person riding them to go for work and even appear in social gatherings decently. These scooters are the complete life supports for these ill-fated people who fail to move about without any support.

The cost of these electric mobility scooters also termed as disabled mobility scooters is not at all pocket-friendly, especially for an average person and it becomes increasingly expensive if it is an updated model with exclusive features. So, in many cases, a person with mobility problems needs some kind of financial assistance when he/she is planning to get one.

Medicaid is a federal healthcare program for the elderly, disabled or underprivileged that often arranges to pay for the mobility scooter – but one has to qualify for receiving such grant. Another harassment that awaits the person is in the paper work that is extensive where the person has to disclose all kinds of information such as the monthly earnings, the level of physical disability and its type, the ability to refund and its manner in which it would be done and other such issues. The applicant also must provide tangible proofs to support any claims made. All this makes the process lengthy.

But the good news is, there are a few companies that are now doing the paper work themselves, particularly for those people who are in urgent need to get the scooter. This is obviously a great reliever for the applicant who is already in a lot of trouble because of the disability and the problems that come with it. A number of companies step into the process and help a person in filling out the Medicaid forms. Certain companies even go to the extent of giving away the scooter absolutely free, while the Medicaid application is in process. This facility is offered to the person to ease out the tension and anxiety over the time taking procedures and the anguish in getting the scooter.

If in any case, the disabled person’s application for Medicaid support to get the mobility scooter is disapproved, there are still certain ways in which he/she can get the scooter. This may include deferred payment plans or repayment through easy monthly installments while the scooter remains in possession of the person. In some special cases, a large chunk of the amount is waived off for the needy but suitable candidates.
