I was driving down the road a couple of weeks back and a rock struck my front windscreen leading to a tiny nick to be seen. I didn’t ponder a lot of the chip since it was in the passenger side of my windshield and even shortly forgot it was even there. Later this week I stopped in to visit my elders and my father indicated that the chip in my window could be repaired. He described how just one or two months back he had received a windshield repair on a chip in his front windscreen and that it wasn’t very conspicuous right after getting repaired.
Immediately after leaving my parents house I had become curious about the process of windshield repair vs . windshield replacement and made a decision to contact my local car glass shop for additional information. The glass shop told me to bring my car in for an initial examination of the damage. Prior to getting the car in for its ‘ primary examination i decided to contact my insurance company and talk to them regarding the process of windshield repair and should I have this done on my automobile. My insurer told me that if the damage was tiny enough for a fix they’d surrender my deductible which will keep me from spending any cash when it comes to having my auto glass repaired and my glass would be revived to a like new status.
Excited about the possibility of not being forced to invest any cash to have my windshield repaired I determined to stop by my nearest vehicle wash and clean the automobile prior to going to the auto glass shop for the initial examination. While at the vehicle wash I was approached by a person named Steve. Steve let me know that he was the on-site windshield repair tech and he noticed my windshield had a crack in it. I made sure he knew that I was on the way to have it corrected and that my insurer was stumping up for the process. He said that the crack in my glass was too big to be fixed and that I would require a total windshield replacement. Steve did not offer windshield replacement solutions and advised that I use an internet locator service to find the most acceptable value on my replacement glass.
Recollecting that my insurance company was going to waive my deductible I chose to call them back and discover if they would do a similar thing for a total replacement. Sorry to say my insurer explained that I’d be accountable for my deductible in this situation.
Now that I have to pay out of my pocket for my glass to be fixed I decided to return home and get on the web and explore the most acceptable deal out there for my replacement glass. I found a windshield replacement locator service that was particularly useful in rendering a number of price quotes from varied corporations and permitted me to plan my service on the web. The corporations which were displayed in the locator service were all mobile and managed to perform the service at just about any location I needed.
My brand new windshield ended up costing me $225 plus tax which is depressing when it may have been no charge to me had I mended the chip sooner. I believe we live and we learn. Going forward I plan to get any nick in my windshield repaired as quickly as it happens and would certainly endorse that anyone reading this article do the same.

As the days start to get shorter and the light commences to dissolve it is clear that spring is almost up and autumn and then winter will soon be upon us. As this minute it is especially vital to have wiper blade attached to your motor which are in good condition. The decreasing light is one reason for poor visibility but poorly maintained wiper blade are another and at least these can be solved. Things get even worse when the snow commences to fall and ice cakes your wind screen in the mornings. The only recourse at times like these is to get some new top of the range wiper blade to help abate the dangers associated with driving in the winter. A direct threat to the well being of your wiper blade in winter come from the salt and grit placed upon the roads. This produces an alkaline solution which destroys paint and metal and even the rubber on your wiper blades.
Grit also includes many tiny and very hard particles which will get trapped under the windscreen wipers and cause the rubber to be abrasively abated down or could even scratch your wind screen. Also at this time of year using materials like anti-freeze in your washer fluid is an absolute must however even this will cause your rubber windscreen wipers to break more rapidly. Salt and grit will get mixed up with snow and make a thick dark mask on the wind screen which will obscure the driver’s vision and increase the chance of having an accident. So if you want to abstain from trouble on the roads this year it would be a nice idea to give your wind screen a wipe down regularly with some warm water. Another thing you could consider is buying some new windscreen wipers made from a more adequate material. There are special winter windscreen wipers seen on the market which are made from a thick rubber sleeve which and steel which are engineered to remove heavy snow falls from the wind screen. A more understated and all round answer is to opt for some new windscreen wipers produced from silicone instead.
Silicone has some amazing properties which will blow you away. When stacked up to traditional rubber wipers they persist for twice as long and will not crap out in the heat or cold. You no doubt will have noticed by now that rubber wipers have the aggravating habit of fixing solid to the wind screen. If you start them up in this position you risk burning out your electric motors or straining the metal and plastic arms quite acutely. Well silicone wipers don’t stick, just think of the bottom of a non stick pan and construe that to your wind screen. Silicone is even used in contact lenses due to this exact same property; it has a slippery surface which makes it ideal for use as a wipers component. Another nice property is on the flip side it doesn’t melt in summer as do normal wipers and will keep its integrity in trying conditions much better than basic wipers.
