Power Mobility Chair – When Mobility Is Your Problem
If you were thinking that power lift chair is nothing but some kind of hot seat that would help you do all sorts of things, you are mistaken. Nor are they, in any way comparable to the chairs that ran on batteries and had a whole host of features and were designed for that celebrated 007 British spy James Bond. These chairs are powered by rechargeable batteries and are designed for people who cannot move freely otherwise and thus they actually resemble motorized scooters. The predicament may arise out of severe injury, after effects of complex surgeries or simply old age. The chairs are also ideal for all those who suffer from congenital physical disorders and mal-formations, or are paralyzed from their waist region.
Power Chair verses Motorized Scooters
To begin with, motorized scooters are more affordable and are easier to acquire through health care agencies. The scooters are however, quite heavy and this makes it difficult to move them from car trunks. For greater ease in transferring and maneuvering, you can switch over to these chairs. Besides, it does not look like the usual companion of the aged and the physically challenged. The chairs look smart and trendy, and thus, they do not look like some aid for the aged.
The power lift chair basically is a wheelchair and there is an electrically operated motor attached to it. The chair can be adjusted by a lever that looks like a joystick, and this allows the chair to move (either left or right), and turn on its axis as well. On the other hand, the motorized scooters have handlebars that have to be reached by leg, to adjust the handle and move the scooter. This unfortunately is rather difficult for a person who cannot move from the waist downward. Also, since most of the controls are hand operated and are within easy reach, controlling the movement of the chair is an absolute breeze.
If an individual has serious difficulties in moving freely, (s)he should switch over to custom built chairs. Voice commands, finger applications or even eyes and the nose can be used to operate these chairs, just like any robotic equipment.
Power chairs – Why are they so popular
A physically challenged person or an old individual generally finds power lift chair highly convenient because:
• The chairs are not heavy, can be moved about in the car trunks and can be conveniently loaded and unloaded as well.
• Users can easily control the movements of the chair through the lever with soft-touch features, that looks like a joystick.
• The chair is extremely mobile and it is noiseless too.
• Reliability and dependability of the chair batteries.
• The chairs have nice and comfortable seats.
• The power chair can be used effectively even when the terrain is uneven.
By all means, power chair are a boon to people who are otherwise immobile.
