Spyder Owners: Are They Bikers Or Not

I have to hold my hand up and admit that I am really thinking about buying a Can Am Spyder soon. Because my youngest child will be leaving high school soon, and then moving on with his own life, my wife and I will be able to manage with just one car. My original plan was to get rid of one of the cars and then buy a two-wheel bike but I have become intrigued by the Spyder. My only question is, would being a Spyder owner make any less of a biker?

I will definitely still own my fantastic riding glasses, my leather jacket and gloves, and my girl riding on the back, but will that be enough? The reason I ask is because I already know about the people who ride their racing bikes in their nylon jackets and don’t know much about the biking community; I know they are referred to as ‘weekend warriors’.

They are not considered “real bikers” by most of the hard-core Harley riders I know. I’d hate to think that just because I was riding Spyder I could become the next biker outcast. If that happens I suppose I’ll have to buy a Lone Wolf patch just to make a spiteful statement about my independence.

It is the Spyder’s stability that is so intriguing to me. In terms of how stable they are, you don’t even need to have a motorcycle license to operate one in three states (Delaware, California and North Carolina). That’s pretty impressive to me, especially seeing that I’m getting older and I’m more about safety than what other people think of me. Stability is very important because during my younger days of riding, I actually rolled my Honda 550-four a few times.

With the Spyder I’ll still have the open road feeling, the wind on my face, and sun my shoulders. I’ll just be safer and, depending on whom you talk to, cooler as well. I might even start a trend and my older biker friends will also buy a Spyder. Maybe.

First of all, you need to buy a charger when you buy motorcycle batteries, the earlier you make this purchase, the better off you will be. This can help you save a lot of time, money and effort since you won’t have to go to a shop to get your batteries charged later on.

Naturally, you need to buy a charger that will suit the type of battery you have on board your motorcycle. If you have no idea what type of battery to buy, you can ask the dealers you are planning to buy from about a specific type of charger you can invest in. A lot of people are advised to buy trickle motorcycle battery chargers that charges the battery slowly (hence the name), which also happens to be the recommended method of charging any type of vehicle battery. These kinds of chargers can be used to charge your batteries overnight so you can be ready to use it the next day. You also need to choose the most portable and compact kind of chargers. This is perfect for those who often go on road trips.

Don’t think that because you have car battery chargers, you can use them on your motorcycle batteries; you can’t and you shouldn’t. The reason is because using car battery chargers on motorcycle batteries destroys the batteries. Be sure you’ll buy quality motorcycle battery chargers made by manufacturers such as Goal Zero to make sure you won’t mess up your batteries and force you to buy a new one. It is also a good idea to buy these items online since you can take the time to learn more about the dealers and their products before you spend your money on them. Buying from online dealers and suppliers allow you to be sure that you will end up with high quality products at prices you can afford easily.
