Vital Automotive Repair Tools for Car Owners
Every owner of an automobile should own his own set of automotive equipment. These are the tools that can be used to fix his or her car when it breaks down. The best quality tools might be expensive, but they can save a lot of money in the long run. (Though if a problem persists, the owner of the car should still have his automobile or motorcycle checked by a professional.)
Various automotive equipment is available, which includes specialized tools made for specific repairs. Some examples would be bearing pullers and extractors or camshaft locking devices.
Car owners should keep at least one tire jack in their vehicle. Flat tires are common mishaps that occur during trips, and a jack will be needed to replace a tire. In this situation, a lug wrench is also needed. Without these tools, you could find yourself stranded along the roadside, waiting for help to arrive. You can also opt to carry a flashlight, gloves, a tarp to kneel on, a rain coat, a tire gauge, and some tire blocks.
Besides the lug wrench that you need for changing a tire, you’ll also need specialized wrenches for spark plugs and oil filters Adjustable wrenches are also a must, for loosening and tightening nuts and bolts in the car. Pliers will come in handy. Screwdrivers are also needed.
For the home garage, a battery charger is the probably the most important item of automotive equipment that you will need, especially if you don’t use your vehicle very often. Jumper cables and non-wire brushes for cleaning battery contacts are also useful in the home garage. A set of tools and a good-quality tool box are also must-have items. With these, you can do minor repair work without the need to bring the car to a service garage.
A car owner will probably also want to check the fluid levels in his car. Such automotive equipment as funnels, rags, hand degreaser, and rubber gloves are needed for the job. Parts that are stuck can be knocked out with a rubber mallet. To keep your tire pressure regulated, you’ll need a tire pressure gauge.
There are numerous companies that manufacture automotive equipment. With so many tools on the market these days, the buyer should remain aware of quality. A badly-made tool may cause the work to be more tedious and time consuming. Finally, keep in mind making the proper use of all equipment and tools.
